Alice Morgan is a dynamic Sydney/Eora-based saxophonist acclaimed for her vibrant musicianship and compelling performances across contemporary and classical repertoire.
With performances described as “sublime, full of colour and life” (Stuart Greenbaum), she is deeply committed to Australian music and has premiered and recorded works by many prominent Australian composers, including Holly Harrison, Paul Stanhope, Nicole Murphy, Elizabeth Jigalin, Kirsten Milenko, Anne Cawrse, and Andrew Howes.
Since her nomination for the renowned Freedman Fellowship, Alice has become a prominent voice in the Sydney music scene. She has performed extensively with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as Guest Principal Saxophone across their 2024 and 2025 seasons, appeared as concerto soloist with the Resonance Ensemble in Tony Ryan’s Soprano Saxophone Concerto and with Ensemble Apex in Ibert’s Concertino da Camera, and premiered numerous Australian chamber works in eclectic ensembles with Ensemble Offspring.
Alice has a particular affinity for chamber music. She was named Ensemble Offspring’s Hatched Associate Artist in 2024, performs with a variety of saxophone quartets, and is a regular collaborator with the Bowerbird Collective. As a chamber musician, she has appeared in concerts across Australia, including the 2024 world premiere of Andrew Howes’ The Eyes of the Earth for saxophone and string quartet at the Lyrebird Festival. Later this year, she will tour with the Bowerbird Collective and accordion virtuoso James Crabb in various performances throughout Tasmania and the Blue Mountains.
Alice is a keen educator, teaching students across Australia and New Zealand. She has presented several masterclasses at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and participated in composer workshops at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Alongside her performing career, Alice is an experienced producer and orchestral manager as one of the founding members of Ensemble Apex. She has been a loyal part of the production team for many of their successful concerts, ranging from RUEL x Red Bull Symphonic to Verdi’s Requiem at Judith Neilson’s Dangrove.
